چکیده

• PEI film inclusions improve the Mode I and II interlaminar toughness performance of CF/PEEK laminates. laminates toughened with at delamination susceptible ply interfaces exhibited superior impact relative to baseline a smaller damage footprint Unlike thermoset based composite laminates, all tested on surface. This is useful attribute in aerospace structures, where barely visible (BVID) concern for flight safety. Current material systems have relatively low fracture toughness, leaving them vulnerable damage. While thermoplastic are considered be tougher, levels can dependent processing parameters. In this study, Polyether imide (PEI) layers were added carbon fibre-reinforced ether ketone (CF/PEEK) laminate layups prior consolidation enhance key interfaces. It was found that addition improves laminate. Low-velocity tests performed as well PEEK inserts, direct thickness comparison. For energy impacts (10 J), associated tool drop events, it panel best. However, difference decreased increased. Ultrasonic scans indicated footprint. Compression after (CAI) Combined Loading (CLC) revealed although inserts reduce undamaged compressive strength, they higher residual strengths compared other tested.

Mean strain effects on cyclic deformation and fatigue behavior of polyether ether ketone (PEEK)

The fatigue behavior of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) thermoplastic was investigated under uniaxial strain-controlled cyclic loading condition with various mean strains (Rε 1⁄4 0, 0.2, and 0.25). The mean stress responses of PEEK from all mean strain fatigue tests were found to be fully-relaxed. As a result, minimum mean strain effect on fatigue behavior of PEEK was observed. Fractography analy...

Reconstruction of frontal bone using specific implant polyether-ether-ketone.

Defects on the craniofacial complex may result in aesthetic defects, functional damage, and psychologic consequences. Previously, surgeons showed no interest in reconstructing the operated area, but in the treatment of the problem, leaving bone contour is a secondary issue. Nowadays, area reconstruction with post-reestablishment of contour and local shape has become one of the surgeon's priorit...

PEEK (Polyether-ether-ketone) Based Cervical Total Disc Arthroplasty: Contact Stress and Lubrication Analysis

This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the maximum contact stress and the lubrication regimes for PEEK (Polyether-ether-ketone) based self-mating cervical total disc arthroplasty. The NuNec(®) cervical disc arthroplasty system was chosen as the study object, which was then analytically modelled as a ball on socket joint. A non-adhesion Hertzian contact model and elastohydrodynamic lubric...

Local deformation behavior of surface porous polyether-ether-ketone.

Surface porous polyether-ether-ketone has the ability to maintain the tensile monotonic and cyclic strength necessary for many load bearing orthopedic applications while providing a surface that facilitates bone ingrowth; however, the relevant deformation behavior of the pore architecture in response to various loading conditions is not yet fully characterized or understood. The focus of this s...
